I have been a big fan of contemporary Filipino comics and independent comics ever since Culture Crash Comics (the Philippines Premiere Comics Magazine) came to publication. Fast forward to the present, I have been a follower of a new convention that promotes and celebrates Filipino ingenuity, and this was Komikon which was usually celebrated at around November. That is why it is refreshing to see this event at the middle of the year, around in summer. These are the things seen and what I've experience in the Komikon Summer Fiesta 2009.
My day started with me waking up at around 7 in the morning and hitting the road at around 8:00 am. I arrived at UP Bahay ng Alumni at around 9:30 am where a long line of anxious comics fan wait for the official opening of the event.
It was not called Komikon Summer Fiesta for nothing as the heat of the sun starts to scorch down on us, the helpless comics enthusiasts waiting in line. I forgot to bring any umbrella that time so I just took out my handkerchief to hopefully block a small amount of heat from the scorching sun.
I took a photo of the most prominent figure in front of Bahay ng Alumni that time, "Manong Sorbetero" or Mr. Ice Cream Vendor. I wonder what's on the news that time? ehehehe
The line finally moved and by around 10:15 I think I was already inside the venue and what welcome me is a hall filled with interesting booths and stores.

Here are some of the interesting merchandise and comics sold inside the Komikon Summer Fiesta 2009 as I roamed around...
Of course, Komikon won't be Komikon without the Comics and their artists...
Two of the most brilliant and creative minds of contemporary Filipino comics. Gerry Alanguilan and Budgette Tan
Mr. Alamat himself, Budgette Tan. I am also following his story Trese
From the collaboration of great minds into a fully published comics, the Bayan Knights character postcards

After some time of endless and continuously taking pictures and going around the venue I decided to seek refuge at the Komikero Booth. I first met these wonderful group of people back in Deviantart and in my My Firsts: The Komikero Meeting and San Pablo Laguna Trip.
The Komikeros are lead by the original "Komikero" himself, Gerry Alanguilan.
Gerry Alanguilan taking a video coverage which he will use on his Komikero Bidjo Youtube Channel
and now meet the rest of the komikeros....
The original founding members of komikeros
Some other booths include the new local Philippine Anime Authority TV Network TV5...
I also decided to drop by an old art drawing group I am part of online, the DAMEAT Booth.
Also signed up for the DAMEAT attendance sheet. By the way I go by the username of CMAOTAKU on DeviantArt.
I also looked at the First Philippine-made Online Fighting Game which go by the name of BANGU-BANG MANIA...

There is also this big freedom wall where anyone can express themselves and show that they were at the Komikon Summer Fiesta 2009, the wall is then called "The King's Board"
Since my original intention to go to the Komikon Summer Fiesta was to see whether there would be a third book for "Trese" and that there is non. I decided to avail a complete issue from one up to the current of Mangaholix comics which I am currently reading right now.
Lastly, I saw this group of kids cosplaying as the popular PSP game characters Patapon...
...and decided to take a photo with them. Well, what can I say, I can also be a "patapon" hehehehe.
