Fishing The Market For a Bountiful Catch! The Fish & Co. Experience

March 12, 2009 (Thursday) - Yehey whipped up another delightful to the taste buds event for the bloggers together with Fish & Co.. But it was not all gastronomical delight, there was also this particular activity...

The bloggers Fish Story

This is my side of the story. My fish "Fish & Co." Story

Like the usual my adventure starts from home leaving Dasmariñas, Cavite. So as usual here is my...

A Dasmarineños Route To The Metro

Dasmariñas, Cavite to Shangri-la Plaza Mall

From Dasmariñas Town Proper take the bus going to Pasay MRT/LRT area and drop off at the MRT Taft Terminal. Take the train and drop of Shaw Boulevard Station just before SM Megamall and Ortigas Avenue Station. Once you get there you can't miss Shangri-La Plaza Mall because one of the exits of MRT Shaw Boulevard Station is directly to Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Ask the courteous security personnel on where is the Fish & Co. Restaurant and they will direct you there.

- End of the Route To the Metro -

I left Dasmariñas at around 12:00 nn to avoid getting stuck with the traffic. I think that two to three hours is just the right adjustment time to reach any destination in the Metro but luckily it only took me about two hours to get to Shangri-La Plaza Mall. I've arrived at the mall at around 2:00 in the afternoon and was one hour earlier so I decided to roam around and window shop a bit.

By 2:30 to 2:45 I've waited outside the Fish & Co at the 2nd Floor for other bloggers to arrive and accompany me inside (mes wants to bes withs peers hehehe). Abbie and Edel arrived whom I go with in Fish & Co. We were welcomed by the Fish & Co. staff and was redirected to their reserved room for the bloggers. After a few more minutes, bloggers started to populate the spacey room.

Prior to this event, we received that there will be a platting activity. Each group have been given a country to represent and will uniquely plate the dish based from the country they were assigned to. We were also asked to gived the necessary ingredients we will use in order to make a successful plating. I've emailed them on what I've researched from the worldwide web on Indian dishes.

I've got assigned to India together with Azrael, Lace, Leira, and Omar. Each group members were given a sash with the country's name in it. Almost everyone felt like a beauty queen when they wore the sash, which includes the boys hahaha, just kidding.

See? What did I tell you?

Minutes later, Laslo of Yehey called our attention to officially start the event. The Marketing head of Fish & Co. also briefed everyone on the history and the branches of Fish & Co..

about fish & co

Finally, Lazslo has unveiled the surprise of the day. We will be given around 45 minutes to buy and set up the ingredients for our country's plating. No wonder why I didn't see any of the ingredients as I emailed. It made me think that Yehey has this habit of making bloggers run and do activities (not that I consider it a bad idea or anything, rather I think it's rather cool).

I left my camera at my bag and decided to go on with the shopping at the department store at the ground floor. Az continued taking photos and videos of how we scour the market for Indian ingredients and elements which will make our plating Indian. A woman ask me inside the department store if what are we doing, because we still wore our sash and was obviously rushing to get the ingredients. "Are they for a school activity?" the woman asked which I later find funny and entertaining which only means I still looked like I am still going to college hehehe. I explained that it is for a game/activity for a restaurant and courteosly left them to join my group mates.

Jona and Toni of Yehey where also with us when we are done and were going back to fish & Co.. We joked around my leg referring to the leg spasm experience I had from Detour: The Island Cove Blogverture. finally when we arrived back at the fish & Co. the bloggers where already in their tables getting busy with platting.

Our group started platting as well

The "platting masterpiece" of each group were as follows:

After a while Lazslo interviewed each team and asked what is the name of the group's platting and why. Omar whipped up a very good story behind our country's name like Vishnu's Blessing (correct me Omar if you're reading this). Moments later, Yehey and Fish & Co. team chose the team who won as the most aesthetically appealing platting... and the winner is the Philadelphian team:

Meals where served after the awarding, some dishes took almost forever but they were worth the wait. Here are some of the many desserts and cuisines they offer...

I find myself stuffed after all those cuisines and desserts. A gastronomical delight indeed. We hanged out a bit and socialize as usual and later calling it a night. Another great event hosted by Yehey in partnership with Fish & Co. Before leaving Fish & Co., I noticed this statement which every dining establishment should follow:

XBX Interactive Grand Opening

Like any other Wednesday it is our "Laundry Day" and the day before that I was asking around my blog friends on how can I get to Katipunan. It is another adventure for me because I've never been in that part of the Metro...again. I've asked Aerin of Pinay Ads for directions and she responded with a very accurate and detailed direction. a lot of thanks to her. Good thing that Jonel of Digital Manila or most popularly known for his Let's Go Sago is going to the event as well, at least if I get loss, I will not be alone hahaha. So here again is my short segment dedicated to the travelers out there who haven not and wanted to travel around the Metro:

A Dasmarineños Route To The Metro

Dasmariñas, Cavite to Katipunan, Quezon City
Take the usual bus to Pasay MRT/LRT route from the Dasmariñas Town Proper or at the Petron Gas Station and drop off at the MRT 3 at Pasay City. Get a train ticket going to Araneta Center - Cubao Station. Dropping off at Cubao Station, take the walkway from the station to Araneta Coliseum and through New Farmer's Plaza. Ask for the Araneta Center-Cubao LRT 2 Station and take another train ride from that station now going to Katipunan. And Voila, you're at Katipunan... (I like the looks and the feel of the LRT 2 Station. Hard to believe that "that well-kept" transportation facility and station is funded/subsidized by the government)

- End of the Route To the Metro -

Me and Jonel first met at around the new Farmer's Plaza and took the train. After dropping off at Katipunan Station we walked and looked for the Mini Stop Store to take a tricycle going to Burgundy Place (Between Intermatrix and Robinsons Bank)

We arrived at around 3:30 and entered the venue. Tom entertained and told us everything there is to know about the XBX Interactive. For a more comprehensive look on what XBX Interactive has to offer for gamers and friends you can visit their website here:

A Blue Water Day Spa Invigorating Blogger's Reprieve

February 18 2009 (Wednesday) - was marked as the day when the bloggers who've been picked for the Blue Water Day Spa Contest got their prize... an invigorating relaxing experience. Yours truly was there to see, experience and try what the Blue Water Day Spa Ortigas Avenue Branch has to offer. This is our Blue Water Day Spa Invigorating blogger's reprieve.

lucky 28 or less bloggers at the blue water day spa

My Wednesday start with me waking up at a very weird nightmare which includes me going to "hell" and me waking up only to find out I am still in that same hellish nightmare and woke up again with a little more laid back yet still hellish nightmare. Talk about stressful!

Of course I hit the computer again to attend to my online writing job and later joined my father and helped with the laundry. Wednesdays and Saturdays have always been "Wash Day" for us which tires us to sleep afterwards but this time I have a blogger's event to attend to, so no time to rest. It's a good thing the event has something to do with relaxation and comfort.

The event I am talking about is sponsored by the Blue Water Day Spa which also serves as a prize to the 28 lucky bloggers who won Tech Filipino's contest. Here are some of the winners of that contest:
Winners of BlueWater Day Spa’s Spa Movie Theater Competition

We've finished with the laundry at around 2 in the afternoon, rested for a while, and finally prepare to leave for Ortigas Avenue in San Juan Metro Manila. I left Dasmariñas Cavite at around 4:30 in the afternoon.

A Dasmarineños Route To The Metro

Dasmariñas, Cavite to Greenhills Shopping Center San Juan Manila Route

This is me again as usual with my "A Dasmarineños Route To The Metro" which is now getting to be a regular part of my blog to help out people who wanted to get around the Metro but don't know where to go or what rides(transportation media) to take to get to their desire location. Actually this will also serve as my memo pad if in case I forget how to get to the places I've been before... hahaha dang my memory loss!

greenhills shopping center

Start off by taking a bus with with the signboard or heading to Pasay MRT/LRT. Drop off at the MRT 3 Station and buy a ticket to Ortigas Station and board the train. From Ortigas Station Go down the stairs to the left and hike all the way to Robinsons Galleria and walked all the way 'til you see the back of Big Lady Herself. You'll have to cross to the other lane and watch yourself as you cross the street. Once on the other side, you'll find jeepneys with signboards to San Juan and ask the driver to drop you off to Greenhills, but I am not. Rather I'd ask the driver to drop me off to Caltex (gas station) because that is the main establishment near the Blue water Day Spa as indicated in this map:

The Blue Water Spa may look far from Greenhills but the truth is it is just a couple of walks away. This map also got a lot of us but it was also really helpful. The Greentop condominium where the Blue Water Day Spa is located is just behind Caltex. Take the stairs and you are there!

I arrived at the venue at around 7:00 in the evening hurray for the quick route I take. I wanted to have a company when I go upstairs (to the Blue Water Day Spa) so I waited there for just a couple of minutes, and Omski arrived. We were welcomed by the relaxing aroma of the scented thingies from somewhere (I didn't see any candles so let me just call them thingies) at the reception desk. We logged and was good to go inside the Spa Theater. It looks homey and relaxing (of course! it's a spa) and Mr. Francis of Tech Filipino warmly welcomed us. There was a small buffet of fresh fruits and juices for all the bloggers. The bloggers started populating the theater. I've met some new bloggers there namely Joiyee, James, Carlo of the Food Critic, and Nicely. Of course some of my fellow blogging friends where also there like Ada, Jonel, Azrael, Lace, Sarah, Edel, Earth and Janette.

Francis gave us the tour around the Blue Water Day spa Area. Each of the massage rooms are named after different birth stones and are all elegantly laid out to simplicity (say what?). To find out more about what rooms and services can one gain from the blue Water Spa you can head over to their Official Website.

Finally, we are lead back to the Spa Theater to watch a movie while having a massage. We were introduced to the top masseuse of Blue Water Day Spa who'll give us the right pampering and massage that we need. The movie "Kung Fu Panda" started playing and so does the massage. I've already seen the movie but I don't mind watching it again in blue ray quality while being massaged. My masseuse was Angie and like every one else's attendants she gave me a foot, back, arm, and head massage which really feels good afterwards which energized me making this long post right after I arrived home.

The massage ended before the movie.. the part where Thai Long is about to attack the temple and the villagers are being evacuated. We finished the movie and bid everyone else a pleasant evening and headed outside to be courteously greeted by the masseuses. Me, Jonel, Az, Lace and Ms. Janette grab a meal at Bonnie's and have some interesting discussions. After the scrumptious meal we bid goodbye to Miss Janette. We grabbed a taxi and went all the way to Ayala to drop off Jonel and proceeded to Baclaran pass 12 midnight to take a bus back to Cavite.

Bonnies

I arrived at around 1:30 in the morning and started blogging and now it is... uhm 4:30 and now I am feeling a bit tired and sleepy. The day started like the usual but ended in a relaxing reprieve all thanks to the Blue Water Day Spa.
